Actor, model, musician, designer. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, grew up in Moscow (mother is Russian, father is from Yugoslavia), moved to America at age 5. Started at age 11. Photographers Herb Ritts and Richard Avedon were early supporters of Milla.

As of 2009, has been modeling for almost 25 years. Breakthrough movie role was starring in Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element in 1997. From her Resident Evil movies, has learned to love martial arts. Married to director Paul W.S. Anderson, has one daughter with Paul.

She is dubbed the reigning queen of kick-butt because of her frequent appearances in science fiction and action films.

She was born as Milica Natasha Jovovich on December 17, 1975 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR (former Soviet Union), to a Serbian pediatrician Bogdan and a Russian stage actress Halina Mikhaylovna Loginova. When she was five, Milla and her parents migrated to London, UK, then to Sacramento, California, and then finally settled in Los Angeles in 1981. Her parents worked as house cleaners for a LA director Brian De Palma.
After Milla’s father spent some time in prison her parents separated and then divorced. Milla later stated in her account of her past that prison was good for her father, he became a much better person as it gave him a chance to stop and think. Milla also has a half brother Marco Jovovich, from her father’s relationship with an Argentinian lady. Milla was brought up in Russian Orthodox religious fashion by her single mother who paid the bills through small acting jobs.

As a child Milla was trained in acting by her mother. She grew up as a bullied child at school, often secluded because of her Soviet Union roots. Milla emerged a risk-taking, brave and outspoken girl as a result of these childhood scars.
Milla Jovovich tasted international fame at the tender age of 11 when she was discovered by photographer Richard Avedon and featured in Revlon‘s Most Unforgettable Women in the World campaign. At 12 Milla made it to professional covers like Vogue and Cosmopolitan after signing her modelling contract. After this there was no looking back and by 2004 Milla had over one hundred magazine covers to her credit.

In 2004 Milla also became the highest earning supermodel with a $10.4 million salary figure. She is also one of the pioneers to set a model-turned-actress trend; she had a smashing film career with films like The Fifth Element (1997),  The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) and Resident Evil (2002). Jovovich enjoyed an equally successful acting career.
Milla has also tried her hand at singing and has released several critically acclaimed musical recordings.
Milla currently lives with her husband Paul W. S. Anderson, whom she married in August 2009. They have a daughter Ever Gabo Anderson
